Four years after the Taliban took over Kabul, the government of Afghanistan has stripped women of nearly all autonomy.
”The Taliban is closer than ever to achieving its vision of a society that completely erases women from public life”, the UN Women stated earlier in August this year.
At the same time, Afghanistan faces a dire humanitarian crisis driven by conflict, economic collapse, natural disasters, and severe restrictions on women’s and girls’ rights, leading to widespread food insecurity, lack of essential services, and mass displacement. The humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan is one of the most complex, persistent and severe in the world.
Women are living shorter, less healthy lives, restricted to their homes.
Join us for an update on the situation in Afghanistan and a discussion over what we in Finland can do together to support the women in Afghanistan.
