K’u’um Collective’s monthly pop-up restaurant opens its kitchen again at Bar Typo, in Tekstin talo! This time, Finnish and Mexican flavors get a fresh, fiery boost from the Yucatan Peninsula. Come and try it!

The day will culminate in another Fandango led by Jaranas del Norte: a celebration where everyone is welcome to participate by playing, singing, reciting, dancing, or just being present!

In the afternoon, a lyric workshop led by Ludvik Moreno will guide you through the secrets of son jarocho. This folk tradition, originating from the Veracruz region of Mexico, intertwines music, dance and sung poetry.

In the workshop you will learn about the cultural background and principles of the tradition, and you will get to write your own verses in traditional poetic forms, such as copla, sextilla and décima. You can write your verses in any language – no previous experience is necessary.

The workshop will be held in English.

The participants’ texts will be performed and interpreted at the Fandango that evening.

DJ Acetato will keep the floor warm until the morning.
