FANDANGO x TEKSTIN TACO: 5.9.2026 HKI
Ikoninen Fandango-sarjamme palaa jälleen Bar Tÿpoon! Tällä kertaa mukana on kaksi erityisvierasta – muusikkoa ja soitinrakentajaa – jotka saapuvat Helsinkiin suoraan Meksikon Veracruzista, son jarocho -musiikkiperinteen sydämestä.
Tällä kertaa vieraileva keittiömestari Mara Lozano ja Amado Peña tulkitsevat pohjoismaisen sesongin makuja meksikolaisen keittiön kielellä.
Päivä huipentuu jälleen Jaranas del Norten ohjaamaan Fandangoon: karkeloon, johon kaikki ovat tervetulleita mukaan osallistumaan soittaen, laulaen, tanssien, vain olemalla läsnä – tai sanoituksia rustaten!
Iltapäivällä järjestämme José Marianon ja Julio César Corron ohjaaman Son Jarocho -mestarityöpajan. Työpajoissa opit son jarochon rytmistä ja rakenteesta sekä perinteen kulttuuritaustasta. Meksikon Veracruzin alueelta lähtöisin olevassa kansanperinteessä musiikki, Zapateado -tanssi ja laulettu runous punoutuvat yhteen.
Julio César Corro on Tlacotalpánista, Veracruzista kotoisin oleva mestarisoitinrakentaja, kansanmuusikko ja kulttuurikasvattaja. Vuonna 2022 hänelle myönnettiin arvostettu Masters of Mexico’s Artisanal Heritage Award -palkinto. Hänen poikansa José Mariano Corro on koulutettu muusikko, joka on erikoistunut jarocho-harppuun.
Mitotl:n raaka magneettinen energia liekehtii electrocumbia, latin beats ja techno musaa Tÿpo:n tanssilattialla aina kello kahteen saakka aamulla.

Our iconic Fandango series is back at Bar Tÿpo, featuring two special guest musicians and luthiers visiting Helsinki straight from the heart of the Son Jarocho scene in Veracruz, Mexico.
This time, Nordic and Mesoamerican flavors come together in a menu crafted by our guest chef, Mara Lozano together with K’u’um’s Amado Peña. You’ll be able to taste a blend of traditions prioritizing local Finnish gardens and reimagined staples of both traditions: a new Mexican twist of Muikku fish, a reimagined version of the nutrient-dense beans and corn, and a blue-corn quesadilla like you’ve never tasted it before!
The day will once again culminate in a Fandango led by Jaranas del Norte: a celebration where everyone is welcome to take part by playing, singing, dancing, or by simply being present!
In the afternoon, a Son Jarocho masterclass will be led by José Mariano and Julio César Corro. In the workshop, you will learn about the rhythm and structure of son jarocho, as well as the cultural background of the tradition. Originating from the Veracruz region of Mexico, this folk tradition combines music, Zapateado dance, and sung poetry.
Julio César Corro is a master luthier, folk musician, and cultural educator from Tlacotalpan, Veracruz. In 2022, he received the Masters of Mexico’s Artisanal Heritage Award. His son, José Mariano, is a trained musician specializing in the jarocha harp.
Dj Mitotl’s raw magnetic energy will blaze through electrocumbia, Latin beats and techno music on Tÿpo’s dance floor until two+ in the morning.
